The first YECO-sponsored talk concluded with great success.

This month, Youth Empowering Council (YECO) sponsored the monthly HEEGO Forum in Cadaado, featuring Sakariye Cismaan, a London-based political commentator and writer, as the guest speaker. Sakariye emphasized the significance of political engagement and awareness within one’s community.

Sakariye emphasized the importance of relying on credible sources to form informed opinions and stay updated on current affairs in one’s country. He highlighted several advantages of being politically aware and active, such as advocating for causes one believes in, such as improved infrastructure, access to clean water, well-equipped schools, and hospitals.

Furthermore, being politically aware enables individuals to identify, vote for, and campaign for candidates who align with their views during general elections. It also empowers them to hold leaders accountable for fulfilling their campaign promises and promoting transparency in the management of humanitarian aid.

To empower youth to make a difference, Sakariye encouraged them to enhance their knowledge of electoral processes. By educating their elders, who play a role in candidate selection or serve as electoral delegates, the youth can take a leading role during elections and have a meaningful impact.

Lastly, Sakariye urged the youth to make the most of their free time by enhancing their English language proficiency. This would enable them to engage in independent studies and research, expanding their knowledge and understanding in various fields.
